Renault Group, in collaboration with Plug Power, is forming the company Hyvia, which aims to spread hydrogen cars and infrastructure in Europe.

It is hydrogen-powered commercial vehicles, the so-called LCVs, and therefore not passenger cars, that will be put on roads, and the first vehicle will be completed already this year and will be followed up by the roll-out of charging stations.

Commercial vehicles such as LCVs need longer range and shorter charging time, which only can be achieved with the green hydrogen technology and not the electric car technology. The hydrogen technology from Hyvia and Renault’s E-Tech Technology come together to go up in a higher unit by increasing the range to 500 kilometers and ensuring recharging time of just three minutes. Andrew Marsh, CEO of Plug Power says:

”With over 40,000 fuel cell systems already installed and with 110 charging stations, Plug Power is a leader in green hydrogen solutions through electrolysis. And with Hyvia, we bring hydrogen mobility to France and to Europe.”
